for the record, the stuff i used for the background and imagery and whatnot isn't as random as it seems. i wont get into it without being prompted, but just know its not just a random selection. its purposeful. it usually is.

in simple terms, its a creation of a parallel between japanese feudal era samurai morals, mentalities etc, and those of american gangs.
 
the soul, and therefore death of it, as a physical purpose higher than the self. but also the glorification of these acts, the 'badassery' of knowing what youre doing is what will one day bring death to you, probably well before humanly expected.
