Alright, since everyone else is coming up with idea's for their team talk threads (and I dont want to steal them) I decided to come up with an all-time team roster for the New York Knicks. Everyone is allowed to post who they believe should make up the 15 man roster. After we have fifteen players then the debate begins who the starters should be.

Here are some rules:
  1. No "putting down" any of the players (I hate to see that....especially w/ the Knicks)
  2. Only submit 3 players at a time
And I guess thats all for now.

STARTERS
C P.Ewing
PF D.DeBusschere
SF B.King
SG E.Monroe
PG W.Frazier

BENCH
1. W.Reed C
2. B.Bradley F
3. A.Houston SG
4. L.Sprewell F/G
5. M.Jackson PG
6. J.Starks SG
7. J.Green PF
8. D.McGuire PG
9. D.Barnett G
10 W.Naulls SF

C - Patrick Ewing / Willis Reed
G - Earl Monroe / Dick McGuire / Mark Jackson
G - Walt Frazier / Dick Barnett
F - Dave DeBusschere / Johnny Green / Phil Jackson
F - Bill Bradley / Cazzie Russell / Willie Naulls

6th Man - John Starks

I know you only wanted us to submit 3 at a time Dez...but I am afraid I would forget if I had to wait.

I have to argue that Allan Houston should be on that list in place of John Starks, and Latrell Sprewell in place of Phil Jackson.

As much as I can remember, Phil Jackson was mostly a bench player in the Knicks glory years, and John Starks was good, but not Allan Houston good. With that said:

C: Patrick Ewing/Willis Reed
PF: Bill Bradley/Cazzie Russell
SF: Bernard King/Dave DeBusschere/Latrell Sprewell
SG: Earl Monroe/Allan Houston/
PG: Walt Frazier/Dick Barnett/Stephon Marbury

Nice to see you back Nelso, as for your argument. I kind of agree, kind of disagree.

I wouls agree with Sprewell replacing Jackson. Spree was a big time player when he played for us, if it were not for him we would have been swept in the 98-99 finals. Obviously I wasnt around to watch Jackson but from what I have seen of him he was the Renaldo Balkman type player, a garbage man, so I would agree Sprewell should be on the list.

As for the Starks/Houston part, I would have to stick with John Starks. Yes, Houston was one of the best guards we gave had, but Starks had the lock down D, Knicks fans loved.

AE, its up to you if you want to present your side of the argument.

I'd put Houston over Russell... Russell played 5 years for us, with not so impressive stats. I never saw him play, but going by the stats, I'd put Houston over him:

Season Ag Tm Lg G MP FG FGA 3P 3PA FT FTA ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TO PF PTS
+------------------+----+----+----+----+---+----+----+----+----+----+----+----+---+---+---+---+----+
1966-67 22 NYK NBA 77 22.0 4.5 10.2 2.3 3.0 3.3 2.4 2.3 11.3
1967-68 23 NYK NBA 82 28.0 6.7 14.5 3.4 4.3 4.6 2.4 2.7 16.9
1968-69 24 NYK NBA 50 32.9 7.2 16.1 3.8 4.8 4.2 2.3 2.8 18.3
1969-70 25 NYK NBA 78 20.0 4.9 9.9 1.6 2.1 3.0 1.7 1.8 11.5

dez, I made this for my Pistons one, so I though maybe you could want one. You don't have to use it, but I'm bored so I made it. It's for like the heading BTW.

Alright, I guess we have our 15, so now begins the debate for starting center.

I personally believe Ewing should be starting center, he's a future HOFer, a great scorer, and IMO a better defender then Reed was. Granted Reed won two rings but Ewing was the type of big man you could rely to hit the GW 18 foot jumper or beat his man with a finesse post move.

My vote: Obviously Ewing.
