Is there really nobody else in the East that can start over Melo?

I don't think Durant is a popular player with casual NBA fans.  Not only does he play in Oklahoma City, but he also kind of boring both on and off the court.  He's also been hurt this season, so that doesn't help with those casual fans.

He's on the cover of 2K. He has commercials. He has shoes. Etc. didn't he get voted in last year?

I do think Jake is right though, regardless of those things. He just doesn't have an interesting personality. And his game is in on the boring side as great as he is.
Kind of like Timmy D, amazing player, just boring.

You guys say these things about Durant but fail to look at the people voted in over him...

He's started 4 all-star games. It's not like this is a recurring thing. It's just weird that the votes weren't there for him this year.

That has something to do with it but it's still just surprising. He's the MVP

Yeah I mean it is kind of surprising, but at the same time I'm not completely shell shocked by it.
