Allen Iverson is facing alcohol and gambling issues that have derailed his career, according to a number of sources.
Stephen A. Smith of the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote Monday that the issues could threaten Iverson's post-basketball well-being.
Iverson's gambling problem is serious enough that he has been banished from casinos in Detroit and Atlantic City, N.J., according to Smith.
Sources are concerned that Iverson "will either drink himself into oblivion or gamble his life away."

Allen Iverson's wife filed for divorce after eight years of marriage this week and his drinking may have been a factor.
The divorce petition said the marriage was "irretrievably broken" and that Tawanna Iverson wants custody of their five children.
Stephen A. Smith of the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote on Friday that "Iverson has been troubled by excessive drinking," according to several NBA sources.
