Rick Adelman nearly walked away from coaching last offseason and sources say he's convinced more than a few people in team circles that he'll opt out of the final season of his deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Adelman is 67 and his wife has been dealing with a persistent illness.

Fred Hoiberg is widely regarded as the most NBA-ready coach in college and he was an executive with the Wolves for four years before leaving for Iowa State. There is growing buzz coming out of Minnesota that the team will pursue Hoiberg if Adelman leaves.

That teams inability to consistently win basketball games is just puzzling.

I think some of it has to do with Love and Pekovic just not being a good fit together. Which is funny because they are probably Minny's two best players. I also think it has something to do with Rubio never becoming (and currently isn't) the player he was thought to be.

I mean, who on that team plays defense? We know the story behind Love and Kevin Martin, neither being positive defenders. Nikola Pekovic is surprisingly below average defensively. Rubio is a solid defensive PG, but he's not enough to make up for the rest of the four guys on the court. You also have to include Corey Brewer, who's always been a little overrated defensively, but even he isn't playing at the same level.
