Abreu Released; Trout Called Up

Abreu is on the way out and Mike Trout is in uniform for the Angels today. Abreu, 38, hasn't been happy with the lack of AB's and he continued to be the odd man out in the outfield. He's still owed $9M by LAA but he's free to sign elsewhere now.

Given his ability remaining, he's likely a DH-coming off the bench for some AL club........if at all.

ok seriously, what AL team will sign him to give him regular AB's? that's what got him pissed with the Angels

if he can't find a good situation in the AL and starts looking at NL teams, I would love to sign him.

bat off the bench, occasionally play LF. he can't be worse than Manny was and we're using Juan Rivera in LF anyways. personally, i think he can still field

Abreu can still play, I don't get the hate for him. Look at his numbers last year. What team (especially offensively starved teams) couldn't use a guy with a .250 average, a .350 OBP, going to hit double digit homers and steal 20 bases?

I think he'd rather be a part-time player than unemployed at this point in his career. He copped that 'didn't want AB's taken away' attitude but I would think he's coming to terms with his actual value at 38-years old.

You're the man Mexi. Dodgers make a lot of sense as they can offer Abreu the most playing time and the best chance to be on a roster come October.

we really dont need him to play everyday either. i would be ok with a platoon of him and rivera with Gwynn coming in late

or if they dont want to platoon and instead start him once in a while if at all, he's a much better threat off the bench than adam kennedy

any help we can get. this offense isn't very good aside from kemp/ethier
