Look at the NFL, pure passing league where QBs are throwing for 300+ yards with ease.

Are pure blocking TEs a thing of the past? Will they be soon? Will we see more hybrid TEs who are quick off the line of scrimmage and can get huge yardage?

Our starting TE for the first 6 weeks, Michael Hoomanuwanui, is a pure blocking TE

Jimmy Graham isn't a TE. They line him up at WR like 95% of the time, and he is an atrocious blocker. He's a WR that Sean Payton likes to troll us all with. Aaron Hernandez was the exact same thing, and though he's a solid blocker, Vernon Davis is starting to split out a majority of the time. I think a more accurate question is how soon actual TEs might be nonexistent? The Jason Witten and Heath Millers of the world are disappearing fast.

Most teams have blocking TE's that they use on jumbo sets, but that's usually the only time you'll see them.  You won't see the field most of the game unless you're a good blocker and receiver.

Well yeah, that is a great point. Which is why I started the thread.

We are seeing more 'slanky' TEs that play like WRs mostly.
