What is up with the Giants and their offense failing to score 7 points in the red zone?

Is this a coaching issue? Team issue?

From what it looks like, Gilbride's play-calling is horrible in the redzone.

HB draw plays and horrible movement in the endzone.

Has any giants or non-giants fan noticed this?

I've noticed this for 3 years. Gilbride makes some awesome calls between our own 30 and the opponents 40. and after that it's pretty terrifying. I agree wit hthe HB draws, our O-Line is in no way ready to create a hole for that. And I saw a blog refer to our new C Jim Cordle as "the revolving door" which might be a perfect description. At this point, move Boothe back to C and put James Brewer at LG. that would solve a big problem on the line and really help our running game. Go right between boothe and Snee and Wilson will have a field day.

The red zone playcalling needs to be fixed. Every pass to either Randle or Nicks in that first half, in the red zone, was just a straight route at the end zone. Nicks looked lost out there and had no clue which shoulder Eli was throwing to, and that worries the hell out of me too. He should easily be able to go up and snag any pass thrown to him, no excuses at this point. And Eli never looks to his TE.s Myers & Pascoe are by no means excellent recieving TEs, but he has to find some common ground with them. The main problem is Gilbride's RZ playcalling relies too heavily on Eli lofting a pass to the corner of the endzone in hopes a WR makes the catch. Need to be more unique. Oh, and there's not a single person on earth who doesn't know what "Omaha" means when Eli calls it. Pick a different word.

The Giants have a couple of excellent red zone players in Nicks and Brown, but I don't see Nicks utilized very well, in that regard. I do think the Giants should have resigned Bennett, as he turned into a good target for Eli last season. Either way, the Giants have been lucky to have Tynes and his consistency these past few years, and even though they had to move on from him, he certainly came into his own as a kicker in NY. Anyway, I think the Giants now have a better running game and should be a bit more dangerous come red zone situations.

Lest we forget that Gilbride's decision making has always come into question, highlighted by Buddy Ryan's punch.

Josh Brown won't have any issue taking Tynes' spot.

Our red zone offense has been a problem, nothing new. It's a combination of Killdrive and lack of execution. We definitely don't run enough PA plays in the red zone imo.

I hate when people say "Hicks", say the guy's name right.

Josh Brown is a damn good kicker, easily replacement for Tynes.

And I have faith in Myers coming into his own with Eli.

Lack of a power running game (which was the case after Brown went down last year), will normally mean poor red zone production. It was not an issue for this team before then.

As far as the pre-season goes, the Giants just try to see what works and what doesn't, on offense. That's why it has always looked bad in under Coughlin and early into the season (save for 2008).

For the record, I wasn't combing Hakeem and Nicks. I just screwed up the first letter of his last name, somehow. I have no idea how that happened. I watch the guy several times a year, and I know his name lol. My bad.
