Jason La Canfora ‏ @JasonLaCanfora

Sanchez deal: 3 yr extension for $40.5M/ averages $13.5M per year. So 5 yrs left on deal for $58.25M, w/ $20.5M 100% fully guaranteed

Regardless:

wat

yea thats the total of the 5 years. But still stupid.

First the Colts cuts, then the Redskins trade, then this. What the hell is going to happen before midnight?

This is hard to understand. Shouldn't he be under a microscope to perform next year to save his job for the future? He's making more money than Aaron Rodgers next year.

I just don't see the point in extending him now. We already have him locked up for two more reasons. I still think Sanchez pans out and becomes an above average QB, but I'm not dumb enough to think that there's no chance that he doesn't improve.

If he becomes the QB everybody in the organization thinks he can be, extend him after this upcoming season or the next season. If he doesn't go your separate ways.

They extended him now because he's a little bitch pretty boy who probably was crying himself to sleep every night watching espn talk about how good Peyton would be for the Jets.

For an extra $2.75 million, Sanchez gave the Jets three straight option years, allowing the team to keep him if he finally realizes his full potential — and to cut him without further investment after the 2013 season, the 2014 season, or the 2015 season.

The contract also could be called a glorified restructuring. Per a source with knowledge of the details, Sanchez’s $11.75 million base salary for 2012 has been converted to an $8 million signing bonus, a fully-guaranteed base salary of $3.25 million, and a $500,000 workout bonus.

The move creates $6.4 million in 2012 cap space.
That makes a lot more sense.

Lol, I was going to say. Without those options that contract is extremely laughable.

Those details seem to make it a somewhat better deal, and i guess if he still sucks in 2 years they can cut him without getting hurt financially -- but I still don't know..
