Lawrie started his career very nicely, but could not make the adjustments once pitchers figured out the holes in his swing. Defensively, he is adequate. Offensively, he looks lost at times. He might benefit from another set of eyes and another voice to get his bat going again.
Last night, the USA team lost to the Twins 3-2. Buxton made a really nice catch on a ball that McCutcheon hit to straightaway center. McCutcheon tipped his cap and Buxton returned the gesture.
Publicly stating that Price is going to visit Dr. Andrews is not a good sign. Price has never had any elbow problems in the past and has always had arm stiffness early in the spring. This may be a bit different, however.
We can hope for the best.
Mauer's ship has sailed, unless he gets hit bat back. As a catcher, he was great. As a 1B, not so much. He has to do better than 12 homers with .265 and 70 RBI.
Also, Trout has to continue with similar stats for another 5+ years to be a lock. He is a wonderful talent and should be HOF...
Bad news for the Cardinals. He'll be out at least 12 months, likely longer.
While the Cardinals can handle his replacement internally, they will certainly miss his electric stuff.
This is horrible news. Both were young men with their lives ahead of them. Baseball aside, these were men with families and friends who loved them. Losses like these are the worst losses a family can have.

One of the unfortunate stories from the voters is that Jorge Posada only got 3.8% of the votes. He needed 5% to stay on the ballot, so he won't be elected by the writers.
