Patriots have 3 key guys to re-sign, so Brady reduces his salary by $11M

Ravens have 5 key guys to re-sign, and Ray Lewis retires. With his new contract, Joe Flacco now makes on average over $20M over 6 seasons. What a team player.

Brady would have done the exact same thing if he was in Flacco's shoes.

no he wouldn't have

Brady would rather win than be rich. He's super competitive, it's not about the money for him

After Brady won his 3rd Super Bowl, he got his "big extension"

6/$60, not 6/$120.6

Jesus christ, Flacco shouldn't be anywhere near the highest paid in the entire league

I understand that he doesn't deserve this kind of money, but people are reacting like he's some scrub. Fuck no. Joe Flacco is the six or seventh best QB in the NFL, and aside from the back and forth he does with Eli on the 6 and 7 spots, the top 5 guys are only ahead of Joe because they're more prolific in the regular season. Come playoff time, Joe Flacco is a fire-breathing monster for opposing teams. He may not deserve 120 over 6, but he certainly has the potential to live up to it if the playoff streak continues (at least one win per post-season) and especially if Baltimore can notch another super bowl win.

Baltimore needs to resign one of the two in Ellerbe or Kruger, though. And leave Anquan alone. Don't cut him. He was more vital than even Smith was in the Super Bowl run. This talk of cutting him is silly.

All but Boldin would be my guess. Maybe Cary comes back too

being the 6th best QB in the NFL doesn't mean he should receive a record contract.

Classic Bware post

Joe Flacco was 25th in QBR this regular season. That's not Top 7 at all. And Eli is a Top 5 QB too; he's much better than Flacco

1-3: Brady, Peyton, and Rodgers (I refuse to rank them)
4. Brees
5. Eli

6-9, Triple Rs: Ryan, Romo, Roethlisberger (once again, no order)
10. Flacco, based of playoff success

That distance from 5 to 6 is that big, because nobody from that 6 and below group should be Top 5. Ben was, but he isn't anymore

Becauase QBR is everything! And no, Ben is still elite. The only reason you could possibly knock him down is two bad INTs at the end of games this past season. That's all. Eli, and the Giants in general, only show up for about 10 games a year. He's hardly better than Ben but for maybe a few more touchdowns (probably a few more INTs, too). Actually, Ben matched Eli's TD totals and Eli almost doubled Ben's INT totals this past season, and that TD match was in three less starts for Ben. Maybe those three extra games would have brought the INT numbers closer, but I doubt it would have been by much. Also, Matt Ryan is not better than Joe Flacco, not even close, in my book. So he lights up the regular season. Big deal. Fucking Andy Dalton almost threw for 30 TDs. Matt Ryan does nothing in the postseason.

Last year I'd have told you that Romo still had Flacco because Flacco has always had two things Romo is usually playing without--a defense and running game that he can actually trust. Romo's had some defenses and running games ranked in the upper half of the league before, but not in recent memory and rarely did they deserve the ranking. At the same time...Dallas would have been more dangerous in the playoffs than Washington this year because Dallas had real playmakers still healthy on their defense (Ware, Spencer, Carr), and Tony fucked his team over. Hardcore. Joe's got him, now. I'd even say Ryan's got him, and that hits me right in the gut because I think Matt Ryan is the definition of overrated. He's a game manager with excellent weapons. You take away Julio and Roddy and put in some of the WRs Flacco had before Torrey and Anquan? Yikes. Just fucking yikes. Derrick Mason and...shit, I can't even remember some of the others. Mark Clayton? LOL.

With an RB like Ray Rice, 22:10 is not a bad TD:INT ratio. Flacco makes big throws, doesn't turn the ball over, and is never the reason his team loses a game. Matt Ryan sucks some Sundays. Did you not see the Arizona or Oakland games? Yikes.

Flacco > Ryan, Romo, Schaub

1. Rodgers (I'll rank them, because Rodgers is better than Brady)
2. Brady
3. Brees
4. Manning
5. Ben
6. Eli
7. Flacco
8. Ryan
9. Romo
10. Schaub

Easy peasy.

And don't get me started on how Cam Cameron stunted the growth of Joe Flacco as an NFL quarterback. Cameron is the worst offensive coordinator I've ever seen in my life and his firing is the main reason we saw Flacco shine in the playoffs.

Did you really say that Flacco's better than Matt Ryan? I'll take 14 good/great games a year from Ryan with 2 bad over 6 good ones with 10 mediocre ones from Flacco every time.

Flacco had 6 games where his TQBR was less than 40, including 4 games less than 30, two of which he recorded 0.3 and 0.4. Ryan had 3 games under 40, but none less than 31. Ryan also had a higher completion percentage, more touchdowns, more yards, more touchdowns, higher TQBR, and higher Quarterback Rating. The only category Flacco beat Ryan in was INT's.

I don't think you can even make the case that Ryan has better weapons than Flacco. Joe has two above average running backs to hand it off to, as well two of the fastest receivers in the league and Anquan Boldin who was incredible in the playoffs. He also has two legitimate TE's. Yes, Ryan does have Jones, White, and an old Tony Gonzalez but he has absolutely no running game and no other legitimate pass catchers except for Harry Douglas.

If I had to rank them it go like this
1. Rodgers
2. Manning
3. Brady (Can put these three in any order it doesn't really matter)
4. Brees

5. Ryan
6. Eli

7. Big Ben

8. Flacco
9. Schaub
10. Romo (maybe)
