You guys know I have to add my two-cents on this as I am a big uniform/logo guy.

Love the name, it's underrated, and I prefer mascots that are related to the city or region in which a team plays. Pelicans may be goofy looking but trust me, they are f'ing asshole-type of birds. Now I wasn't crazy about the announcement of color selection but I like the darker shade of red and the gold will set them apart from teams like the Hawks, who already have a navy & red scheme. The logo...eh....not bad but I think it's too much for an NBA logo. The best NBA logos are the simpler ones. The Nets, Thunder, Knicks, Lakers....those logos are simple and they work. This new Pelicans logos is crossing a certain line and although it's a kick-ass logo, it's one better suited for an Arena Football Team.

But overall, I welcome this change, I think we'll get used to it. The last thing I wanted NO to do was adopt another cliche' or over-done team name. Yes, OKC "Thunder", I'm looking at you! Now for the most important part of this transaction..............get the "Hornets" back into Charlotte.

The primary logo does look like a dumbed down version of the NJ one.
Can't deny that the jerseys are sexy though.

I agree more work should have been donw on those Brooklyn Nets jerseys, but I think the Logo is solid.

Away jerseys are straight, home jerseys are too plain though, my little bruhs rec league uniforms look better lol

I disagree. I think keeping it simple works very well for them. It seems to fit New York. I'm just mad that we couldn't use black because of them.

And this is why you know nothing about design. Simplicity and minimalism can't be beaten.
Look at Apple and how far the brand has come after Jonathan Ive took over. It's the same principle.
The Pelicans logo isn't bad for what it is but I agree with everything AE said... it's not a great NBA logo.
