Well, Luck looked good. And that's all I can say. He's got such a great understanding of the game, which is clear. But I was unimpressed with his over conservative style. I did not like how much he dumped it off and defaulted to underneath throws. His yards we totally inflated because of this. I saw maybe 3 NFL throws tonight. This isn't my final evaluation, but tonight he failed to live up to what everyone's made him out to be.

From what I heard when I did watch the game his top wide reciever that he has was out. And they said he was really the only guy that is Stanford's deep threat

That shouldn't matter. I wasn't looking for a deep throw. I was looking intermediate stuff. 10-15 yards. Which happened only 2-3 times. The other thing is yes, he carved them up, and found the guy underneathe, but the velocity on those passes was underwhelming. He's still the best QB in the draft in my eyes, but he isn't the perfect prospect.

He doesnt have the strongest arm in the world. Thats already known by alot of people. He flutters the ball like Peyton does. Thats what I've heard alot when I've seen shit about him and the nfl draft.

I liked the one pass where they were bringing six and he dumped off a pass to Jeremy Stewart turning a near sack into a 25 yard gain. The yard gain was from Stewart mostly but still looked nice.

Peyton might not have the best spiral at times, but the ball gets from point A to point B quickly. Luck on the other hand has a nice spiral, but it doesn't always get there quickly.

Tonight I plan to watch about 8 of Luck's games. I'll post a full scouting report later on, or tomorrow. I'll see of that changes any of my views.

Again, still the top pick for me, but by not as far a margin as everyone else says.

Jake's typing up something nice ahah. At the bottom it says he's been typing for like 10 minutes.

People who scout luck keep trying to nitpick flaws in his game without realizing that he isn't considered the top QB in a long time because of his arm strength or his ability to make certain throws. It's because of his ability to read defenses and his overall smarts at position, his accuracy, and his intangibles. That's what separates him, not his physical abilities.

We realize it. But what we also realize is that he's played against weak defenses and he's going to have to be able to make some throws he hasn't had to in college. He sure can command the offense and run it perfectly. We know that. I just want to see him do stuff that elite QB's need to do.

The conservative play is a by-product of the scheme he is in. Stanford doesn't spread the field with receivers, and usually don't have more than two wide outs on the field at one time. Going underneath or dumping it off often times ARE NFL throws. You don't want your QB to force it deep (especially when your WR's are as mediocre as Stanford's), when you can look underneath for your open TE, or dump it off to your back who can pick up some yards after the catch. You could consider that inflating your stats if you want, but throwing short passes and having your receiver get some YAC is a hell of a lot better than forcing a ball downfield to have it picked off, or throwing an incompletion.

I think a lot of the people that come away unimpressed are the people that buy too much into the media hype. Every drive that Stanford doesn't score on, or if they don't convert a 3rd down, you're scratching your head because ESPN has led you to believe the guy is a machine of some sort. Just search on twitter after he threw the interception tonight. People went nuts. No matter how good of a QB you are, you're going to threw a few interceptions throughout the season. He lulls you to sleep with precision, and efficiency. On the surface, it doesn't appear that he's doing anything spectacular, but what he does do is what wins teams championships.

I'm not going to say that he's going to step in and be an automatic superstar from day one, but nothing from this game changed my view on him as a prospect... He looked as good as advertised IMO.

The interception didn't bother me. Good play by the defender there. And yes, his precision is great. But eventually teams are going to make him throw the ball down field. And I'd like the know he can be effective going down field as he is underneath. Like I said, still the top prospect, and I am nitpicking.

I've changed my mind quite a bit, though not fully. He's better throwing intermediate than he showed tonight, and he did face a lot more pressure tonight than he usually does, as he played against a pretty good defense. So, after watching quite a few more games, here is my overall scouting report.

Andrew Luck - Scouting Report
Games Watched: Duke, Arizona, UCLA, Colorado, Washington, Oklahoma St.

Pros:
- Will shred your defense underneath until you can't take it anymore
- Is excellent finding the open man, rarely missing an open WR
- Elite accuracy in the 0-12 yard range
- Has near perfect footwork
- Elite accuracy throwing on the run in all ranges
- Excellent understanding of the playbook, and football
- Calls some of his own plays, often audibles
- Has good athletic ability
- Is very safe with the football
- Has good touch on the deep ball
- Quickly gets rid of the ball
- Doesn't take many sacks
- Reads the defense like a book
- Elite anticipation on throws
- Played in a pro style offense

Cons:
- Doesn't have great arm strength, but it's good enough
- Had an amazing running game at the arsenal, occasionally taking safety's down to the box
- Showed some inconsistency throwing the intermediate pass
- Receivers were often wide open
- Didn't have to make a lot of tight window throws
- Some times can be too conservative, not throwing to loosely covered receivers down the field
- Though didn't have elite weapons, often did not put trust in his receivers to make the play
- Doesn't have as high a ceiling as some other QB's, though still great potential

Overall:
Is an elite prospect who has a good enough arm, and great accuracy. Knows how to beat a defense and is a student of the game. Though not the perfect prospect, and is overhyped, he's as NFL ready as they come (mentally) and will be a Pro Bowler for years to come.

Prospect Rating: 97

You think he will still be available at #7????? I'd be shocked. Jaguars would need to trade up.
When he gets to the combine, his 40 time and other stocks rising will make him available at 7. Teams that need WR ahead of the jags have bigger needs.

I don't think that will be Blackmon. That will be Claiborne. CB's don't go top 5, hell Peterson went 5, and Claiborne is no Peterson.
