Sooner or later, a high-profile NBA player will ink a deal with an international squad to keep the paychecks coming in during the lockout.

And according to a Turkish media outlet, that day may already be here.

NTV Spor reports that New Jersey Nets star point guard Deron Williams will suit up for Allen Iverson’s old Turkish hoops squad (Beşiktaş Cola Turka), as he waits for the NBA lockout to end.

Ball in Europe has the details:

Beşiktaş Cola Turka, briefly known as the team employing Allen Iverson (remember him?), has reportedly agreed to terms with another, perhaps more reliable American NBA baller.

Turkey-based sports news outlet NTV Spor announced today that Deron Williams of the New Jersey Nets will be joining the TBL club for the 2011-12 with an out clause, should the NBA lockout end.

It’s not explicitly clear yet if NBA players can actually sign with teams in other leagues during the current work stoppage. For the time being, there’s also no telling just how reliable this report about Deron Williams having an agreement in principle to head over to Turkey is.

How do ya'll feel about NBA players going overseas during the lockout?

Yeah I agree, I at least want to see these dudes play.. It was just a matter of time though for guys to start making the jump over seas to go and play ball.

I think more players need to release a statement that says they will go overseas, light a fire under the NBA to get something done.

i hope more players go overseas and risk injury making the owners sweat

because i really dont think as of now that there will be a season
and even if there is, it'll be shortened

As long as no major Pistons go over, I'll be happy lol.
But I also don't want to see a star get injured.

At first I thought it is cool that good NBA players are going overseas, since it is leverage. But after thinking bout it, they are really risking injury, which is pretty dumb. Which in the end could worsen the quality of the NBA.

Just imagine if Williams blows out his knee or something, and is never the same player.

According to TalkBasket.net, Deron Williams has agreed in principle to play for the Turkish club Besiktas.
The report states that Williams will be eligible to return to the NBA as soon as the lockout was over. We definitely didn't see this one coming, but it looks like Williams may be the first truly big name to head overseas. For what it's worth, this is the same club that Allen Iverson played with for a part of last season. If accurate, this is a major win for Besiktas.
