It is time to vote for the top 5 players at every position. Alot has changed in the last season so this should make for great discussion. Please try and vote for the best player and don't be a homer! I'll leave the polls open for about a day or so and after that we'll carry on to the #3 PG and so on. I will more than likely add more players as we go since you can only add 20 at a time.

REMEMBER this is based on who is the best player, not the player who has the potential to be the best

2011 TOP 10 PG RANKINGS
1) Chris Paul
2) Deron Williams
3) Derrick Rose
4)
5)

It's between Nash and Rondo; I went Captain Canada.

Nash is consistent with what he does. Gotta go Nash.

I went with Rondo, he isn't the scorer that Nash is but his defense is on a whole other level (even if I do believe his d is a little overrated).

Russell Westbrook... No way he isnt just as consistent as Rondo. Rondo has inflated numbers by playing on a good team. Mateen Cleaves could average his numbers with 4 A/S on a team. Just throwing that out there. Westbrook plays great D, Great FT%, Good Rebounder for his size, Hits threes when open... If you put Nash in the talks then throw in Chauncey Billups and Jason Kidd too in that top 4...

21.9 PPG 8.2 APG 4.6 REBS 1.9 STL 3.9 TOPG

compared too

10.6 PPG 11.2 APG 4.4 REBS 2.3 STL 3.7 TOPG

Ill take Russell Westbrook for 500.

If you want to talk about team, Russell has Durant and a good post duo. Who does Nash have?

Nash has been fallin off for a couple years... Even though he has no one in the post this year. Grant Hill played PF minutes :/. If he gets traded to NYK then its over he'll be spiked up numbers for days. Rondos numbers are inflated... Ill take Steve Nash over Rajon in a heart beat but we're talking top 4... Russells there... And if youre talking being a crappy team then Rajons numbers might as well be divided in half...

Nash
14.7 PPG 11.4 APG 3.5 REBS 48.9 FG% 91.2 FT% 39.5 3PT% 3.5 TOPG

What stands out to me is his shooting percentages. What I like in my PG. Plus I dont want a PG who cant barely shoot 55% from the line... This is a PG driven league and in clutch moments theyre the ones who get the inbound.

Billups
16.8 PPG 5.4 AST 2.6 REBS 1.0 STL 42.7 FG% 91.6 FT% 40.2 3PT% 2.5 TOPG

Gimme Russell Westbrook with Rondo at 5 and Nash at 6

Nash doesn't belong in the top 5. His other skills don't take away from the fact that he can't play any defense

Westbrook isn't a PG. He is the most inefficient player on his team, how do you trust him to run the show? The guy jacks up shots, has an unimpressive AST/TO ratio...

Yeah, you're 100% right - Nash has fallen off so much that he only lead the league in assists this year :( In general I guess you're right, since he's done is 5 of the last 7 years.

I only took Rondo because he gets all his assist by opening up a defense. He slashes to the rim and then passes out. Which helps his team. If he's unable to drive, he struggles.

He aint the same Nash when they went to the WCC... He has to be either 4th or 5th arguably 3rd ... Ill Russell now over Nash... You can take Nash over Russell... Its chill... Russell's like 20-22 yrs old. Hes young and still a "raw" talent... If you want a Vet then Nash is the guy... Want young talent at 4 then go Russell... No way Rondo is in contention of top 5 PG tho... Worlds gotta wake up and see he couldnt do ish if he was playing for lets say ummm Cleveland or Toronto.

I'll quote you this time so you don't edit your post.

How are you sure Nash isn't the same? Is it not possible that his stats are 'worse' (mind you, back to back assists leader) because he's on a team that took Amar'e, Marion, Richardson, Johnson and replaced them with Hakim Warrick, Marcin Gortat, Vince Carter, and Grant Hill?

Westbrook is not a PG I don't know how else to say it. He is not a playmaker. He can't shoot the fucking basketball. He doesn't make his team better. How can he be a good PG when he has the NBA's best scorer on his team, but Russell is taking 17 shots per fucking game? I don't want him on my team.

Rondo is the best pure point guard in the league, i don't get why a PG has to score to be effective.

The last 20 years the championship team's best player hasn't been a PG. I'll take defense and passing creativity any day over Russells chucking

And you don't think Westbrooks numbers aren't inflated for that very reason? Not to mention the Celtics big three isn't Allstar caliber anymore, just very good. They get into the Allstar game based on name alone.

Your also very much overrating Westbrooks defensive abilities. He's got the intangibles to be a great defender, but he isn't one yet. He doesn't focus on that side of the court.

This is a tough call between Nash and Rondo, Nash is obviously the better scorer but Rondo's much better defensively. I went with Nash.
