After six relatively quiet years in the NBA, New Jersey’s starting power forward Kris Humphries is having quite a season, both on and off the court.

The 6’9 Minnesota native is averaging a career (and team) high of 9.6 rebounds while making a strong case for the NBA’s Most Improved Player Award. He also just happens to be dating reality TV star Kim Kardashian.

Calling it the “Kim Kardashian Effect”, many can’t help but notice the correlation between Humphries’ success this season and his recent romance.

“You know, it’s interesting. Just being around her, seeing how hard she works, and everyone in her family and what they do, it’s motivating for me,” Humphries said. “I want to be the best that I can be. I wouldn’t say it’s the only reason I’ve had a great year, but it definitely factors into that."

I think The Kardashian effect is legit. After doing some quick calculations, this is what I came up... They started dating December 28th, 2010. So here are some stats:

Before December 28th: 7.96 ppg, 9.22 rpg
After December 28th: 11.48 ppg, 11.27 rpg

Significant increase in points per game and a good jump in rebounds per game as well.
