One thing I don't understand: Why teams try to do the "white out" thing...when their not even wearing white themselves on the playing surface? This was a pathetic attempt by the Pens. Though thousands were wearing the freebie white t-shirts, it was nothing close to what Penn State or even the Yotes have pulled off. And to think that your trying to do a white out when the opposing team is the team wearing the white shirts. Absurd!
They played terrible tonight and it showed on the scoreboard. They got run by the underdog and lost their chance to repeat. Rocket Richard's and possibly Hart's, and even maybe Selke's are nice...but thats not the hardware I really care about. The first title the Pens won, they added to their story by repeating the next year. I was hoping that trend would continue but now thats not happening and in all honesty, they didn't deserve it with the way they played tonight. I'm really disappointed with the way they played and think next season, things should be changed to prevent the team from becoming lazy in key games in a series. Nothing to do now but look back and learn from your mistakes Pittsburgh. Ray Shero has some decision making to do. I'd like to see Gonchar back, but he's asking for $5M and thats not something Shero will do...but he's also saying he'll take a "hometown discount" to play for a winning team. Thats my biggest concern. That and signing a scoring winger because I don't think Alexei Ponikarovsky will be back. Whatever Shero decides to do, I hope it leads to the Penguins making a Stanley Cup run in 2010-2011. Time to use the off season to your advantage boys...
