Refs took a huge gamble that backfired. They assumed melo would miss. But instead he made it and now mavs fans are pissed off.
Exactly, a gamble....

A gamble at the end of the game when we clearly are trying to foul Carmelo. I would understand if we're not trying to foul and they dont call it. But cmon......

Good luck to the Nuggets through the rest of the playoffs.

Its not the fact that the Nuggets or Lakers would eventually beat us, its the fact that as fans we want a fair opportunity to win.

And that fair opportunity wasnt given to us.

2006 NBA Finals

Salvatore was criticized by ESPN sports journalist Bill Simmons following his role in Game 5 of the 2006 NBA Finals. [2] Towards the end of the game in overtime, Miami's Dwyane Wade drove to the basket and was fouled by the Mavericks.[2] ABC Sports, the television network covering the NBA Finals, could not display a conclusive replay supporting the call by Salvatore.[2] As a result of the foul, Wade was awarded two free throws with 1.9 seconds remaining. [4] The free throws were successful and contributed to the Heat victory, 101-100. [4] Nearly a year and a half later, in an interview with Henry Abbott of ESPN, Salvatore defended his call by producing previously unseen video showing that the Mavericks' Dirk Nowitzki pushed Wade in the back, which was a personal foul and confirmed by Abbott. [5] Before this sequence occurred, the video also shows Wade pushing Dallas guard Jason Terry to the ground.[5] Salvatore responded that Terry's momentum forced him to the ground.[5]

"I mean, all night long the whistle was blowing fast," Wright said. "The whistle was blowing. At the end of the game when we're blatantly trying to foul, the whistle wasn't blowing."
As Rick Carlisle said during the opening statement of his postgame press conference, "Unfortunately, in a game where 61 fouls were called, an official decides not to call a foul when we were trying to give one."
Mark Cuban declined to comment for public consumption, probably because he doesn't feel like donating to David Stern's favorite charity again.

my favorite line in article

We tried to get the referees' take on the play. After a call to the league office, crew chief Bennett Salvatore relayed word that he could answer a question only if it pertained to a rule, not a judgment call. He declined to say whether the officials were aware that the Mavs had a foul to give.
"What do you want me to do?" Wright asked rheotrically. "Do you want me to Derek Fisher him, just take him out?"

Besides that bull<Censored> call. The thing that will stand out in my mind are those 3 free throws missed by Dirk, Terry, and Howard.........

About two hours after the game ended, the NBA announced that the officials goofed. President of league operations Joel Litvin put out a brief statement saying "the officials missed an intentional foul committed by Antoine Wright on Carmelo Anthony, just prior to Anthony's 3-point basket."
STFU people saying it wasn't a foul......

The apology does nothing in reality though

he'll say that but that doesn't mean it was. was it a foul, yes. was it a playoff foul, no.

The act Josh Howard and Mark Cuban put on at the end of the game was pathetic and a embarrassment to the Mavs.
