The Clippers have acquired forward Zach Randolph and guard Mardy Collins from the New York Knicks for shooting guard Cuttino Mobley and forward Tim Thomas.

Talks between the two teams have been ongoing over the past two weeks, and the Clippers made their last offer this afternoon.

Earlier in the week, talks stalled when the Knicks wanted Marcus Camby in the deal.

Kaman and Randolph up front with Baron Davis running the show?
Hmm... the Clips might actually make a run... IF injuries don't hit them like it usually does.

Camby off the bench?
IDK about that. Camby will be dealt soon. Maybe for Stackhouse.
But it might make sense for G-Wall to be sent there.

Hmm Think:

C - Marcus Camby
PF - Zach Randolph
SF -Al Thorton
SG - Gerald Wallace
PG - Baron Davis

Maybe work a deal for Stackhouse:

C - Marcus Camby
PF - Zach Randolph
SF - Al Thorton
SG - Jerry Stackhouse
PG - Baron Davis

We know Kaman is being actively shopped even though they are denying it.
Obviously teams will send more for Kaman but those are my predictions.

The exact reason why I think these trades are a big fat F for the Knicks.
I don't think Lebron is going anywhere, plus what is this saying for the Knicks? It's nowhere near a sure thing, not even 50% chance Lebron's going to NY just because they can pay him, plenty of other teams can offer Lebron money as well. Even if he does go there he's going to a coach that's out of Lebrons style in D'Antoni. Also how do you manage your team saying that it's okay to completely suck for two years just so you have about a 10-20% chance of getting Lebron? and just Lebron? is that all you guys are really shooting for? Say the Knicks do land him to some humongous contract... what else are you guys going to do? What CAP would be left? Other agents could be signed, but nothing big, Wade? Bosh? They're not going to NY in 2010. As phenomenal as LBJ is he's not going to win any championships by himself.

I've never seen why you guys are so excited about Lebron.

Also I've seen some of you guys wonder how the Lakers would sign Lebron James in the off-season. Guess what, in that very same year James becomes a free agent, Kobe Bryant, and Pau Gasol do as well. As much as I'd love for Kobe to stay he's going to be old with A LOT of mileage on his legs. Re-signing Pau while offering LBJ the big contract, oh man what a smack in the mouth for the Knicks franchise.

If this deal pays out for the Clippers who are 2-9 in there first ten games and win a playoff birth then I believe Z-Bo needs to be talked about with his 21 and 12 a game. Seriously, If he plays like he has then he should be an all-star by winning the Clipps games with Davis.

^its not just LeBron thats gonna be a free agent that year.
2010 FA list is CRAZY

the knicks are in a GREAT posistion to make a run at some marquee players. A+ moves today

as for the paper clips, i think they dug themselves too much of a hole to do anything this season.
i know its only 11 games, but GSW got stronger, Denver got stronger, Portland has been playing well lately.
we'll see. its gonna be fun from here on out in the NBA!

If G-Wall stacks out into a paper clip uni in the next week then it'll be sick.

Yeah I just looked at the 2010 FA list because I know it's pretty big. Some very very very nice players on that list. BUT remember when the Lakers revealed their pipe-dreams about landing someone like Yao Ming when he was going to be an FA? What did other teams do? They screwed them over by re-signing their big names before they hit the FA market. Why would the same thing not happen to the Knicks? It could happen, maybe it won't happen. Who knows.

I do see A LOT of potential players that could mix it up with Lebron in NY. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

even if they dont get a LeBron, Wade, Bosh, its a way of starting over.
excellent moves for the knicks

Listen New York sells itself and it always will. It sounds to me that you are hating on the fact that there might be hope for us Knicks fans out there that want our team to succeed. It doesnt matter if we dont get Lebron, we are sure to sign a big Free Agent, be it Lebron or not. These trades are great on the premise that we get rid of players that didnt care about the team, all they cared about is their own stats. As proven by Zach's water throwing at Nate. If Lebron James wanted to stay, then he wouldve signed a big-time contract with the Cavaliers already, but as we can see, he wants to wait and see what the team does to make his decision.

Don't hate on someone elses hope, even if it is a glimmer.

But while Baron should be playing better per his contract and abilities, he's not the problem. Mobley and Thornton and Ricky Davis have been. The team is just getting nothing from those wing spots.

And the team's rebounding, somehow, is awful. The Clippers are being out-rebounded by about five and a half per game, even though Kaman and Camby are combining to average over 20 per game. I don't see how Randolph can help that, because his rebounding acumen will come at the expense of another good rebounder's minutes.

So, essentially, the Clippers have further weakened their weakest position, added a superfluous big man, and a year's worth of salary. Not the end of the world, but not good, either. Maybe they can trade Camby back to the Nuggets for J.R. Smith and a part?
let the truth be told

Wont even matter if they sign a star, their bad management will screw up in the drafts and in future trades like they always do and will depend on one star.

Nah man, I know what it's like. As a Lakers, and Dodgers fan I've seen the dark side, maybe not as bad as the Knicks, but after Shaq was traded I thought all hope was lost and wanted to trade Kobe. For the Dodgers I was saying <Censored> <Censored> <Censored> every year until we somehow landed Manny. I'm just saying that it's never too good of an idea to bank on a future plan because how many times have teams invested in future plans, how many times does it actually work? It is what it is, just hopes. Just wait it out and maybe something good will come of it. Gallinari might become huge like Bynum did when I thougth Bynum was going to be a bust when we drafted him.

But 2010 is a very nice class, didn't think much about it before I posted. Even if Lebron doesn't go there, there's some moves that can be made to really bolster D'Antoni's system.

They will most likely trade Kaman or Camby now, I can't see either of them off the bench or Randolph.
