NBA commissioner David Stern and NCAA president Myles Brand are expected to make an announcement on Monday afternoon in San Antonio that they have reached an agreement that would make certain that players are in college for at least two years before leaving early for the NBA

Good!!! Good!!! Good!!!

This is awesome I hate seeing kids just leaving College Basketball after a single season, it's just wasting recruits, It's just like a 1 year rental, they should change it like the MLB Let the kids go straight from high school if they choose to, but if they go to College make it Mandatory that they Play at least 3 Seasons

This is stupid, the 19 year old rule is stupid enough. If you are 18 and you wnat to go out and make money, and your skills to making money is basketball then you should be able to play in the NBA, as long as your an adult.

I like it actually. Lets college players actually play half their college careers AND gives them a chance to get a good education...well as much of an education as they can. They got it hella easy o_O

I agree 100 percent. This is bull<Censored>. I definietly can see more kids goin the brandon jennings route if this goes down.

Personally I don't believe it should even be a 1 year rule. If they think they can handle being in the league out of hs. Let them go.

After the NBA, what do you do then? At least 2 years of a college education can get you somewhere in life...

Overheated press reports before today’s joint NBA-NCAA news conference in San Antonio had NBA Commissioner David Stern and NCAA President Myles Brand about to announce a deal requiring college players to stay for two seasons instead of one.

...
The NBA’s age rule is determined by collective bargaining with the union, which gave Stern an important concession in the last deal, going from 18 to 19, which prevented players from coming directly from high school.

However, no adjustment can be made without going back in and renegotiating the deal – which runs through 2011 – with the union no more in favor of age rules than before.

Bull <Censored>, I just found out it's all rumors but man that would of been sweet.

These kids will be millionaires. What is their left to do but enjoy your life. You make it sounde like they got a regular job. I hate to use this cuz so many recruits do this. But if you can go to iraq and die at 18. Why in the hell cant you play pro ball?

Ok, I see where you're going but some people don't/can't afford to retire at 37 and kick back for the rest of their lives with no job at the rate you know they'll spend that money. Also, if they don't get a good education, thats just throwing opportunity away for normal people who couldn't get in and didn't have the skill to dribble a ball...

If they find a way to throw away all that pro money then they need to go overseas or something.

It can happen. Over a span of 30+ years, if you have all that money with none coming in you will spend probably most of it.

Alot? Lets try the majority...

And not to mention the drugs and such...alot of money down the drain on stuff like that. Women, drugs, alcohol and such they'll want.

But if they got an education, they'd at least be able to fund their spending

I actually enjoy this.
If you ever do the numbers on championships most of them have won by players who stayed in College. Real GM wrote a article about the numbers a few years ago. Only issue is now I have to wait for 3 more years to see Stephenson to tear it up.

No actually you dont

Lance will be in the league before this takes effect
