The Atlanta Journal-Constitution -
Mike Bibby may have lit a fire under the Celtics after calling Boston fans 'bandwagon jumpers', according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"They were kind of loud at the beginning," Bibby said. "But a lot of these fans are bandwagon jumpers trying to get on this now. I played here last year, too. And I didn't see three fourths of them. They're for the team now and they might get a little rowdy but that's about it."

When asked whether he felt the Celtics had fair-weather fans, who joined the party after adding Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, Bibby added, "You could say that. I remember them having bags on their heads [last year]. It's a different look. I guess that's what happens when you win."
Lmao, tis true.

Some of the fans on this board that are Celtics fans I'd admit are bandwagoners... but at the same time Boston has one of the greatest fanbases in the NBA...

To be honest, not a cheap shot, but I think the Lakers have MUCH more bandwagoners than the C's... it's just he's trying to agitate them and like LeBron to DeShawn, it just won't work...

Honestly, Jarrod hit the nail on the head...There was the same kind of attitude when the C's were winning and making the playoffs in the early 2000s and such. Then they had a down period where there was really no commotion.

If your team ABSOLUTELY SUCKED last year, made some offseason moves, and are now all of a sudden the "greatest thing since sliced bread", wouldn't you do the same?

Agreed.

And agreed.

Bibby is speaking the truth. Sure they have some fans, but they have much more this year, and why is that, cause they are doing good. I wouldn't say i'm a fan of them, but I would like to see KG, Allen, and all them get a ring finally.

not necessarily bandwagon, just when teams do well people shell out cash to see them
why on earth would anyone pay big to see a losing team?
it's the way it is in all sports and all fans

are you going off of the internet?
trust me, i live in LA and sure there are bandwagoners here and there, but most people have been Laker fans forever (or at least thats the way my family/friends have been)

those Clipper fans you saw back in '05 are the epitome of bandwagoners.
there aint no Clipper fans in LA lol

Real fans stick through, thick and thin.

Theres nothing else to it, real fans will love their team no matter how bad they've been. I laugh when I watch Celtic games and the stands are full. I personally hate "bandwagoners" they boast when their teams winning and slither away when they start losing.

Ive been a Knick fan for as long as I could remember and I will always be a Knick fan, no matter what happens. Thats a true fan. Not someone who takes a few years off from being a Celtic fan and then reappears this year.

What? do you know how big a city Charlotte is? I live in Charlotte, and no there wont be sellout crowds every game b/c they arent a playoff team yet. But its the Boston Celtics, arguably the most storied NBA franchise in the league, fans like that should stick around no?

I'm with Jarrod on this one. When your team is sucking, you're not going to hear from that teams fans. But when they are doing good they have room to talk. This happens with every team sometime during the years.

This is true. My friend used to be a Raptors fan and over the summer when the Celtics got Allen and Garnett he started liking them. When they dominated the NBA all the way to March, that's when he became a "fan".
