LeBron James - It's not often that a player with 4 As averaging 25/8/5 on over 45% from the field and over 42% from 3 point range fails to make the All Star game roster, even as a reserve.  But that's exactly what happened this year when Wilson Chandler also put up 25/8/5, and he did so on only 2.5 TOs per game as opposed to LeBron's 3.8.  This is the first time the former MVP has missed out on the All Star game since his rookie season

Derrick Favors - After the big man was signed to a max contract offer sheet by the Wizards that the Heat chose not to match this past offseason, many questioned whether Favors was even worth a max contract in the first place.  Sure, he has some potential left and had put up consistent double double stat lines while in Miami, but was he truly the type of player you could win with as your 2nd best player?  The Wizards have answered that question this year with a resounding yes, as Favors is having the best season of his career and validating his level of pay by putting up 16 points and 11 rebounds a game on 46% with only 1.7 TOs.  Unfortunately for Favors, his teammate Al Jefferson was selected for the C spot in the All Star game despite the two having very similar numbers and the fact that Jefferson is playing PF for the Wizards this season

Tyreke Evans - The loss of Kyle Lowry to free agency surely affected the Nets' chances of being a contender going forward, but it sure didnt seem to hurt Evans' production.  He has always been on the edge of superstardom since he entered the league and cemented it this season when he became the cornerstone of the franchise.  Seeing as he is literally the only player on the Nets that's actually worth a damn, he has averages of 29 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists per game on 46%.  Unfortunately, it's a team game and that aspect hurts him here.  Since his team is on the outside looking in towards the playoff picture, he was passed up for SGs that are on two contending teams, Andre Iguodala of the Raptors and Dwayne Wade of the Wizards.  And it's hard to get too upset about this since both of them were deserving of the spot in the first place, but make no mistake, Evans should have been rewarded for single handedly keeping the Nets anywhere near the postseason conversation

West

Eric Gordon - Even though the Rockets' postseason hopes have quickly vanished since the start of the season, Gordon has finally shown the potential that made him worth a 5 year $87 million extension that he never truly lived up to until now.  He's averaging 25 ppg when his previous career high was 21 ppg.  And in a season where Andre Iguodala moved to the Eastern Conference, the path for Gordon to make his first All Star game appearance behind perennial ASG starter Russell Westbrook was seemingly clear.  Unfortunately, James Harden took the spot over him and this is where Gordon's lack of true stats other than shooting hurt him. While Harden and Gordon both averaged 25 ppg very efficiently, Harden also had 6 rebounds and 8 assists per game to go with it, while Gordon only averaged 3 rebounds and 3 assists per game despite the fact that both of them do it on the same number of turnovers at 3 a game

Dwight Howard - Even though Bosox will tell you that there's no way that Howard really fits into his team and that he should have traded him already, it's kind of puzzling how Howard isn't as valued as he once was despite the fact that he is just as good as he was before.  Even though his stat line of 13 points and 14 rebounds per game is worse than most of his career averages, and even though it comes with inefficiency at 43% from the field and 3 turnovers to go with it, the fact remains that the C spot in the West is particularly weak.  Javale McGee probably deserved his spot with 14/12 and 3 blocks, but how Marc Gasol was selected when he was averaging 9/10 with 3 blocks is beyond me and it's a shame that Dwight was passed over for that

Paul Millsap - If anyone other than Westbrook on the Mavericks should have made the All Star game, it wasn't Marc Gasol, it was Millsap by far.  He's the 2nd best player on a team that has routinely competed for a championship and made 2 Finals appearances, and he would probably be a 20/10 player on a lot of other teams.  He's still putting up 18 points and 10 rebounds on 46% from the field, but the crazy part is that he's doing it on only 1.3 turnovers and has been playing more efficiently than Blake Griffin, who made it over him, despite the fact that Griffin is averaging 17 points and almost 12 rebounds per game.  Millsap is also shooting 46% compared to Griffin's 43%, but there was only 1 spot behind LaMarcus Aldridge and the gap in rebounding was the difference behind the votes

Like the article. One clarification: Evans was "injured" by Donkey before the ASG sim, so he couldn't be selected. We'll never know if he would have been or not...
